Welcome to OkinawaJET!

Your use of this website is governed by these terms and conditions. You must read and agree to these rules before using the website. Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse when breaking them.

OkinawaJET.com will be referred to as "OkiJET", "We" or "us" are used to refer to the administration team of OkiJET.

Registration

Registration to OkiJET is free. You are allowed one account only. You must submit your full name; this website is NOT anonymous.
Registration is limited to participants of the JET Programme in Okinawa only, including those on the shortlist and placed in Okinawa, as well as alumni.

Account usage

Inappropriate Material

The following is considered inappropriate material and should not be posted on either the forums, in profiles or in articles on the website:

• Inflammatory comments about other users (debate is encouraged, but direct insults are considered inflammatory and will not be tolerated).
• Xenophobia, racism, homophobia and/or any other personal intolerance.
• Obscene or pornographic material, or links to sites that contain or promote obscene or pornographic material.
• Any discussion of how to circumvent common law, including copyright laws. This includes, but is not limited to mod chips, peer-to-peer (P2P) software, and links to sites that contain or promote unlicensed software or the breaking of laws. Comments made about a law being broken will be treated as admission of guilt and dealt with as such.
• Information which may invade the personal privacy of any other person.
• Commercial advertising or the promotion of your own website. If your website or product is JET related, you may make one post. You may also submit your website to our web links section.
• Spamming ie. repeated posting of the same item, or posting of one-worded or contentless posts.
• Posting irrelevant material in any forum other than "anything goes".

If you find any post or article that you believe contains inappropriate material, please report it to the admins. All reports will be held in confidence.

Copyright

• You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless you own the copyright on that material.
• You remain solely responsible for the content of your posted material, and you agree to hold us harmless with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your material.
• Any copyright holders who find their material posted on the site should contact us and request that item's removal.

Posting Content Articles:

• You may post any article which you feel is relevant to the Okinawa JET community. If the article is irrelevant or wholly incorrect, it will be removed.
• You may edit any article to add information, or correct spelling or grammatical errors. If you feel information in an article is incorrect, contact the original author of the article and discuss it, and/or add an amendment to the end of the article.
• You may NOT delete information from any article without the author's approval.
• You must include your name when posting or editing any article.
• Personal opinions are to be kept to blogs.

Blogs:

You may use the blogging feature to discuss any item which you feel is not appropriate for articles, or any personal content. The rules about inappropriate content still apply.

Warnings

We operate a series of formal warnings. Breaking of the rules with regards to articles or blogs will result in your author privileges being permanently removed. You will receive an email explaining why your author privileges have been removed.

Forums:

• First warning: for a first offence, you will receive a warning in the thread in which the rule was broken.
• Second warning: you will receive an email about the offence, as well as a temporary ban from the forums.
• Third warning: you will receive an email to your account, as well as a permanent banning from the forums.

Complaints

If you disagree with any decision we make, contact us privately where we will consider your complaint.

Your privacy

We will not sell or pass on your private details that we hold about you. All details held are required for the day-to-day running of the website. However, we reserve the right to reveal any information we hold about you in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any content posted by you.

Disclaimer

OkinawaJET.com cannot be held responsible for any false, offensive or otherwise unacceptable content on the website. Breaches of our terms of conditions will be dealt with on an individual case-by-case basis, resulting in formal warnings, suspensions and permanent bans. In extreme cases we will not hesitate to report members to their Internet Service Provider (ISP) or to take legal action. We reserve the right to make amendments to these terms and conditions at any time. All changes will be notified to members via an announcement in the forums. Membership of OkiJET is not an automatic right of any user and is only granted on the condition that users accept all terms and conditions. Any use of the website is taken as your agreement to these terms and conditions. If you no longer wish to abide by these terms and conditions, advise us and we will deregister you.
